In this workshop you will learn:
• Techniques for recruiting volunteers by looking at who your target audience is

• What “message” will get them in the door and how to communicate that message

• How to develop a recruitment plan and marketing materials such as press releases, flyers and public service announcements

• The importance of recognizing volunteers

• How to increase retention by implementing creative and cost-effective volunteer “thank yous”


• Volunteer coordinators and managers
• Anyone who works with volunteers or interns at nonprofit agencies, corporations, colleges or government offices

Facilitator's Bio:MEREDITH GEMEINER is a Project Director for the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program of the Community Service Society of NY. She oversees the recruitment and placement of volunteers in nonprofit agencies throughout New York City. Meredith has conducted volunteer management trainings at many venues including the Support Center for Nonprofit Management, 2009 National Conference on Aging, and 2010 New York Cares Leadership conference.

She has over 12 years of experience working in the nonprofit arena. She has worked with various causes such as homelessness, Holocaust survivors, older adults, and ESL. Meredith is a board member of the New York Association of Volunteer Administrators (NYAVA) and the co-chair for the Professional Development Committee.
