Overview: Do you avoid difficult conversations and focus on “getting along” rather than “getting it done”?
Details:

In order to create more effective work and personal relationships, we need to understand: on any given day, sometime, somewhere, we may encounter a stressful situation or work relationship and, we might be someone else’s difficult encounter.

In this session we will explore useful and usable techniques to creatively respond to difficult encounters and learn effective strategies that will help you deal with difficult people in order to build stronger relationships.

We will discuss:
• Proven techniques to assure productive conversations
• How to work with difficult people—with integrity
• What happens when our best intentions are thwarted
• The common behaviors that result from thwarted intentions
• Holistic steps you can take to bridge and strengthen positive relationships at work
• How to bring yourself and others into a zone of harmony and productivity

Facilitator's Bio:GINNY PULOS , is President of Ginny Pulos Communications, Inc., a speech and media training consultancy known for its expertise in face-to-face communication. Skilled at mastering even the most difficult subject matter, Ms. Pulos helps a wide variety of individuals--Fortune 500 executives, celebrities, research scientists, diplomats-- in one-on-one coaching and in groups. They learn to communicate facts and ideas persuasively; manage media interviews like a pro; and develop the leadership abilities that help them achieve excellence.

Some of her clients include Avon Products, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, The New York Times, BMG Worldwide and UNICEF.

Pulos is a frequent media spokesperson on communications issues for such publications as The Wall Street Journal and PR Week; she served as guest commentator on body language for TruTV (formerly Court TV); as a professional moderator and emcee, she facilitated the Public Relations Society of America's "Socratic dialogue" at the United Nations; she is also Adjunct Professor at NYU's School of Continuing and Professional Studies, where she designs and teaches courses on leadership and authority, presentation skills and accent reduction.
