An Introduction to Volunteer Management (NJ)

Date: Tuesday, May 4, 2010
Time: 9:30am-12:30pm

Overview: Mission-focused, well-matched and high-performing volunteers are a key component of your organization’s success.

Details:
We will discuss strategies for effective volunteer management that will engage and inspire your volunteers.

We’ll begin by thinking strategically about volunteer roles:
why and how you can and should—or should not—use volunteers.

Then, we’ll address the challenge of finding the right volunteers for the right roles
• How to ensure their success and their sense of accomplishment
• How to keep them on board and returning.

At the end of this session you will:
• Have a solid understanding of the most important elements
of volunteer selection, training and retention

• Be able to review orientation notes, job descriptions
and evaluation materials for maximum impact

• Be prepared to tackle the tough challenge of fixing bad fits

• Volunteer coordinators and managers
• Anyone who works with volunteers or interns at nonprofit agencies, corporations, colleges or government offices
