Intensive Proposal Development (NJ)

Date: Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Overview: Two-day session: Attendance for both sessions is required.
Wednesday, June 2 & June 9

Details:
This two-day workshop will improve your ability to turn an idea into a feasible proposal that merits funding.

YOU WILL:
• Be guided, using worksheets and examples, through a step-by-step process of developing the components of a proposal
• Act as a mock funding board member as you critique an actual proposal

You will apply what you learn during the first session by drafting a mini-proposal for the second session, to be critiqued by your peers.


This workshop is recommended for those with at least one year of experience in writing proposals to corporate, family and/or independent foundations.

You may park in the State House garage (at no cost). You must enter the garage off W. State Street, located directly between the State Library and the State House Annex. The state police officer and library security will have your name. Please indicate that you are attending a workshop in the State Library.

Facilitator's Bio:DON CROCKER is Executive Director/CEO of the Support Center for Nonprofit Management. Don has over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors and is nationally recognized as a high-energy trainer and consultant in the areas of grants and funding development, developing effective boards, and nonprofit leadership.

He has held numerous positions in tri-state organizations, including Board Member, Director of Research & Development, President, and CEO. Don has been an associate consultant to BoardSource, and is a trained facilitator of BoardSource’s self-assessment process. He has served on the New York Times Nonprofit Excellence Awards selection committee.

Don holds a BA in Psychology and an MS in Leadership and Strategic Management, and is adjunct professor of graduate studies at Manhattanville College and NYU’s Heyman Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising.
