Three R's of Volunteer Management: Recruitment, Retention and Recognition

Overview: This workshop will focus on three of the most important components of volunteer management: recruitment, recognition and retention.

Details:YOU WILL LEARN:
• Techniques for recruiting volunteers by looking at who your target audience is
• What “message” will get them in the door and how to communicate that message
• How to develop a recruitment plan and marketing materials such as press releases, flyers and public service announcements
• The importance of recognizing volunteers
• How to increase retention by learning creative and cost-effective ways to say “thank you”


WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
• Volunteer coordinators and managers
• Anyone who works with volunteers or interns at nonprofit agencies, corporations, colleges or government offices

Facilitator's Bio:Meredith Gemeiner is a Community Development Specialist for the Retired & Senior Volunteer Programs of the Community Service Society of New York. She has over 10 years of experience working in the nonprofit arena in the areas of case management, outreach, advocacy, and volunteer management with various populations including persons experiencing homelessness, Holocaust survivors, older adults, and English learners. Meredith is the co-chair of the Professional Development Committee of New York Association of Volunteer Administrators.

Gajtana Simonovski is currently a project director at Community Service Society, coordinating the placement and administration of older adult volunteers through the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). She has nearly 15 years of experience in the areas of volunteer management, program development, grant writing, and producing fundraising events. Gajtana holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
