Executive Coaching

Executive Coaching is proven to be an effective way to build leadership skills, navigate change, overcome challenges and bring new energy to an organization and its leaders. Coaching is quickly becoming recognized as an extremely powerful tool for leadership and professional development in the for-profit and non-profit sectors alike.

What is Executive Coaching?

Executive Coaching is a process by which professional coaches help executive-level clients:

  • Clarify their thinking
  • Identify solutions to workplace challenges; and
  • Become more effective organizational leaders

The coaching process has been shown to produce substantial results because it utilizes a unique and highly effective approach. Namely, coaches help clients discover their own solutions by asking a series of thought-provoking questions and offering unconditional listening and support. Research shows that when people come up with their own solutions (as opposed to being told what to do) and have a support structure in place, they are much more likely to take action and get the outcomes they truly desire.

Who Benefits from Executive Coaching?

Executive Coaching can be beneficial to nonprofit executives in a variety of situations:

If you are a nonprofit executive wanting to become a more effective leader who is better able to successfully move your organization forward, coaching can help!

If you are a new executive director who wants to maximize your chances for long-term success within your organization, coaching can help!

If you are a founding or long-term executive director who is considering transitioning out of your executive role at your current organization, coaching can help!

If you are a nonprofit executive who wants help thinking through your professional and personal goals and creating and implementing a plan to achieve your goals, coaching can help!

What are the Benefits of Executive Coaching?

The benefits experienced by both the nonprofit executive (“coachee”) and the organization in which s/he serves can be tremendous. Typical benefits of executive coaching include:

  • Greater effectiveness in leadership, management and supervisory roles
  • Improved communication, productivity, and confidence
  • Greater personal and professional satisfaction
  • Increased ability to take an organization to the next level

Coaching Structure and Fees

Coaching engagements through the Support Center usually consist of at least 8 coaching sessions at a fee of $150-$200 per session. In your initial coaching session, you and your coach will spend time getting to know each other, clarifying the coaching agreements for the engagement and outlining the goals and objectives on which you want to focus. The first session is almost always a face-to-face, in-person session and can range from 1-1 ½ hours. Subsequent coaching sessions are typically held by phone and can range from 30 minutes to an hour.

We are committed to making sure your coaching needs and expectations are fully met. If during the first session you feel that you and your coach are not a good match for each other for any reason, you will be promptly matched with another coach. Coaching is a very personal journey and the Support Center is here to make the process and experience as rewarding as possible.
