Our Mission
Since 1986, the Support Center has been dedicated to improving our society by increasing the effectiveness of nonprofit leaders and their organizations.
Our Consulting and Turnaround, Executive Search & Transition Management, Training, and Grantmakers Services are designed to strengthen nonprofit and philanthropic leaders and their organizations so that they can better serve their clients and communities.
We work with organizations at all stages in their development and we are committed to working with nonprofits of all sizes, including small and mid-sized organizations. We also work to help nonprofit leaders and managers at all stages of their career develop practical knowledge, build productive relationships, and find the information and resources they need to further their professional development.
Our History
The Support Center has been a valued resource to nonprofit and rantmaking organizations for over 20 years. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization originally created as part of an international network of management support organizations (Support Centers of America). We currently have offices in New York and New Jersey and the majority of our work is in the Greater New York/New Jersey/Connecticut Tri-State area, but our work extends beyond the region, nationally and internationally.
Our Values
We are:
- Collaborative - We work as a team within the Support Center, and in partnership with our clients, funders, and the nonprofit community at large.
- Efficient - We assist our clients by developing appropriate and sustainable solutions that achieve outcomes and maximize performance.
- Accountable - We uphold the highest ethical standards and model the processes we recommend.
- Respectful - We are inclusive and honor the history, diverse backgrounds, and perspectives of our customers and communities in our work.
- A Learning Organization - We value feedback, seek and evaluate data about our own performance, adjust and adapt to changing circumstances. We listen to and learn from our customers, funders, and the community and reflect this learning in our work.
